Kodiak Rainforest Hike

2.5 hours, 2-4 miles easy to moderate

$80 meet on sight or $100 with transport door to door.

A short 10 minute drive from town will deliver you to a magical velvety green landscape! Breathe in the temperate rainforest filled with lichen laden Sitka spruce. You will be guided through emerald forests, flower meadows, lily padded lakes, beaches, and rolling sea cliffs. Depending on the time of year, you might watch puffins nesting in the cliffs, sea otters tethering their pups in kelp, whales passing through, or eagles watching for their next meal. Do a little tide pooling to find a sea anemone or crab. Perhaps you’ll pick salmonberries or blueberries as you learn about the famous Kodiak bears that do the same. Enjoy a lovely trail walk with a naturalist who will share stories of the flora, fauna, and natural disasters like the 1912 Nova Rupta eruption that covered Kodiak in 3 feet of ash! Finish your hike with some incredible WWII history as we visit bunkers and magazines.

This Rainforest Hike is just minutes from downtown Kodiak!
Just like the bears that roam these trails, you are invited to taste salmonberries and blueberries.
